A role play is a game in which the participants assume the roles of fictional characters. Participants determine the actions of their characters based on their characterization, and the actions succeed or fail according to a formal system of rules and guidelines. Within the rules, players can improvise freely; their choices shape the direction and outcome of the games.

This role play is a text based Harry Potter role play. Where you take on the role of a student, or adult in the Harry Potter world. You can creat your own character, or play a more known character.

Simplely, you type what your character does, then someone else types what their character does. For more information, see RP for dummies in the right side bar.

Who wouldn't want to be a wizard?

Yes, we do. You can play as one of the characters who aren't already taken. Canon characters are characters that are from the books/movies themselves. Check the Availability link the right side bar to see if anyone you want to play is avaliable.

Well, while most people on here are very active, sometimes characters will come and go. Someone might get tired of playing that character, or they might not do a good job of it at all and we have to ask them to assume another role. Your best best is to PM one of the admins to ask about the current role, and if it is still being played by the person. We might have forgotten to fix it in the Availability topic.

Depending on what you put in the blank, we will consider it. If you tell us you want your character to be a matrix character, that is an easy 'no.' This is a Harry Potter role play, not anything else. You are not allowed to be something else from some other genre. We do have speical characters, but these characters applications are very carefully revised, and they are most of the time a bit more difficult to get accepted. We make sure our members are pretty decently balanced in their abilitys. Although every story has a knight in shining armor, and an insane creepy baddie running around, we can't have every member being so. Your character cannot be the greatest thing sense the invention of the wand. PM an admin if you have a question about a certain thing on this topic.

If you are wanting two characters, you will need two accounts. If you want more characters, you will need that many accounts. We don't have a number limit of the number of characters you are allowed to have. However, most people at top can handle maybe 3ish. Its better to concentrate on a small number of characters. Otherwise you have all these different personalitys you have to enter when you write for each character, and that certainly can't be good for the average human minds sanity.

There are several ways. Hogwarts Dreams will have contests at random times, and whoever wins one of those, will get several points. And of course, teachers can pass out points as well. However, if your character gets points from a teacher, the same house point rules apply, you MUST message me informing me that the teacher has given your house points so that I know to add them.

The easiest way, is that Hogwarts Dreams has a Myspace. You can earn points by doing a few things on there. So make sure you add us as a friend on Myspace.

50 points for going and leaving a comment on the Hogwarts Dreams myspace, telling people how much you love the site and why.

75 points for posting a Bulletin about the site, and giving people the link in the Bulletin.

150 points for making us on your top friends.

225 points for taking one of these, and posting these on your Myspace, or in your signature on another proboards website you are active at.

Lets just pretend you don't worry about the time periods so much. They don't matter honestly that much. You're character can be in two RP's at once. That doesn't mean they are in two places at once. It is just assumed that the RP's take place at different dates in time.

Yes, they can. There are several ways. They can die just like any other person can die. Suicide, murder, old age. Things like that. Now, your character can only die if you allow it. If you WANT your character to die, then they are allowed to. No one can kill your character, that would lead to too many dead bodies laying around, and we all know that leaves a smell.

But once your character dies, you can either make them a ghost, or you can make a new character to play. You can not make the same character obviously.
