![[image]](http://i115.photobucket.com/albums/n296/xoxlilrachxox_2006/seasons.jpg) As Hogwarts is in Scotland and the majority of us don't live there here are a few quick descriptions of what you can expect from the seasons to help you while you roleplay. __________________________________

Spring starts in March and finishes mid June. The temperatures can be pretty low at the start of spring, around 8-10 °C. The snow melts away and the rain arrives. On the odd occasion you get snow as late as the beginning of June. The flowers start to shoot through the earth and the blossom grows on the trees. The temperature rises and so does the rainfall as you move through April and May it also tends to be a little breezy. As you get to June the temperature will rise again to around 16 °C. You can expect long days of clear blue skies with slight breezes with the occasional bit of drizzle from time to time. The birds return from their migration and the hedgehogs come out of hibernation, many animals tend to be born in the spring especially lambs. __________________________________

Summer starts mid June and finishes at the end of August. The hottest month of the year being July reaching temperatures of 24 °C. You can expect many hot, dry days with clear blue skies. Make sure you stick to the shade in the midday sun as it can get extremely hot. The nights tend to be humid and sticky and it's pretty hard to get to sleep. Thunder storms can be expected from time to time due to the hot temperatures which can result in a months rainfall falling in one night. Toward the end of August the temperature starts to cool down and it can be nice and cool outside in the evenings. __________________________________

Summer is over and autumn begins at the start of September and will end at the end in early November. The leaves start the fall from the trees and the temperature drops to the low teens around 13 °C. September tends to be a very wet month but October and November always seam to be a lot dryer. Around Halloween and bonfire night the temperature will fall to around 10 °C in the day and around 7 °C at night. The birds migrate to warmer countries and the hedgehogs go into hibernation. __________________________________

Winter is the longest season of the year. It lasts from early November until the end of February. November will be very wet with heavy showers daily and the occasional hail. Temperatures will be around 9 °C but with the strong winds reaching up to 80 mph it can feel below freezing. The snow and the frost comes in December and in the more northern parts of Scotland you can expect a white Christmas. It will be raining or snowing nearly every minute of the day and night and the winds will still be blowing strong. January is the coldest month of the year and you will often wake up to a white world but with the temperatures being as low as -5 °C at night it is often very icy. Lakes will often freeze over. Blizzards can be expected and the cloud will be intense so there is a small chance of seeing the sun. In February the snow falls get less frequent and the rain returns. The temperatures remain low in the day around 6 °C and around 2 °C in the night. Gusty winds can be expected but you will start to see the sun toward the end of the month.
