Seth recoiled slightly as Isabelle's foot connected with his shin. Before he had time to react, she'd whipped her wand out and was pointing it directly at his throat. He reprimanded himself for allowing someone to gain such an advantage over him. His duelist instincts almost took over but decided against it. He'd developed a small liking for this girl and he doubted that crushing her in a duel would be conducive to a future relationship. Instead he relaxed his grip on his wand, deciding to respond with words rather than actions.
So without missing a beat, Seth said, "Because you'll end up falling in love with me and I'm sure you wouldn't want your future significant other to be horribly disfigured by one of your spells." He purposely goaded her, wanting to see how far she'd be willing to go to defend her honor.

His goading was a surprise. She was unaccustomed to it. Flirting yes she had come across in numerous occasions. Mockery, not so much. Blue eyes narrowed and with a snap of her wrist she gave a furious cry of Depulso! Sending him flying across the hall and her intention to slam him against the wall as hard as she possibly could or as hard as physics would allow. If he fractured something, then that was his problem. She was too angry to care.
I'd druther love the blasted end shrewt. It's a toss up actually. She retorted coldly. Who is worse? You or that git Malfoy boy. Both of you are arrogant self centered idiots who believe that the world holds you at its center. She almost wanted him to retaliate her spell, then perhaps she could make use of her knowledge of spells much worse than the Banishing Charm.

Time seem to slow for Seth as he hurtled toward the nearest wall. He whipped his wand out and cast a spell to cushion his impact. Unfortunately, the spell only softened the surface on which he would land and did not diminish his speed. He slammed into the wall with a dull thud and crumpled to the ground, struggling to breath. Bloody hell, he thought. That hurts. Despite the pain, Seth smiled. She was definitely a keeper. He'd never met a girl brave enough to stand up to him, let alone hex him.
Seth got up slowly from the floor and approached Isabelle, wand drawn but held limply at his side. He still did not want to counterattack. Instead he responded to her snide comparison of him to Malfoy. "I do say that it is quite unfair to compare myself to the filthy Malfoy child. Unlike him, I do have a sense of honor." He spoke thoughtfully, "I would like to know your name though." Most of the pain had receded by now and he could think properly. "Allow me to introduce myself. I'm Seth Roran, 7th year Ravenclaw."

Geez, Seth didn't know when to quit. Zach backed away from the two of them while drawing his wand. Just what he needed, to get drawn into a duel. Zach stepped against the wall and made a basic Shield Charm in front of him. If they started throwing around dangerous curses, he would need to find better protection. Zach swore softly under his breath. Could he not have a peaceful day here. Zach kept his wand in a ready position, his eyes glancing betweent the two competitors. he wouldn't try to intervene yet. His DADA work was passable at best. The two of them would probably wipe the floor with him. Zach almost snorted at Seth's introduction. He goes flying across the hall and just gets up and hands out his name. She could probably punch him in the nose and he would ask her to Hogsmeded weekend. Despite the absurdness of Seth's response, tension was still rather thick. Zach waited. 'This is certainly worth an entry in my book.' He mused.

As Seth introduced himself, Isabelle was aware of Zachery's step back away from them, away from the danger of flying spells and in this case bodies. She didn't blame him. Isabelle was well aware of her temper and her tendency to lose it. She, however, felt no remorse for it. However when Seth made a halfway decent effort to be civil, she lowered her wand slightly but did not take her eyes away from Seth.
Isabelle. She replied, ice lining the edges of her voice. Sixth year Gryffindor.
He was clearly not pleased with being compared to Malfoy, but she had actually gone easier on Seth. Sense of honor or no your attitude is as horrid as his and I was trying to be fair. Initially I thought to compare you to You-Know-Who himself. But that would be harsh. She deadpanned.
This is certainly worth an entry in my book.
She caught Zach's comment and the corner of her mouth quirked into a smile. So the Ravenclaw was the quiet observant type with perhaps a talent in writing. The philosphy was true. Never judge a book by its cover and certainly not people. While her attention remained on Seth's wand arm, her eyes flickered over to Zach. Make sure you make a note in your book that Sir Smartarse here is an arrogant idiotic self-indulgent moron. She commented rather matter-of-factly.

Seth flashed a genuinely warm smile at Isabelle on impulse. "Pleased to meet you, Isabelle," he replied, bowing slightly. He slowly walked back to her, calling out to Zach. "Let it also be noted that Lady Lovely here cannot stand to be corrected," he said to Zach. She'd probably hex him again but this time he'd be ready. He kept his wand loosely dangling in his hand. It never hurt to be careful.
As he approached, Seth saw that Zach had his wand out. Probably cast a shield charm, he thought. He almost laughed out loud at the thought. He'd forgotten that Zach was notorious for being a lousy duelist.

Let it also be noted that Lady Lovely here cannot stand to be corrected Zach glanced between the two of them. So, he was to the scribe. "I'll just owl off the transcript to the Prophet then, shall I? Oh wait," he turned to Isabelle, "didn't those Creevy boys try to set up a Hogwart's newsletter?" Zach grinned and shook his head. Maybe a bit of humor would bleed off the tension. "Just try to avoid any spell-fire this way. I really don't have any inclination to become better aquainted with the stonework." Zachary paused, waiting to see what the reaction would be to his statements.

Zach was successful in lowering the tension that was building in the room despite the attempt at an easygoing manner that Seth had portrayed. She gave Zach a wry smile as she lowered her wand although she did not put it away.
She eyed Seth one more time, complete dislike and disgust apparent on her face as she did so. A second passed and as if someone had spoken in her ear, she gave a prompt nod and stowed her wand away. She gave Zach a nod. You can let that shield down now. I'm not going to shoot a random stinging hex bouncing up and down the walls. And unless Seth wants to be turned into a weasel, I suggest he put his wand away as well. She said.
She spun on her heel and added, speaking directly to Zach and making it clear that she was ignoring Seth. I hope to see you again. Then she stalked off down the stairs, steps rapid as if impatient to escape the flitting anger that had emitted from her in spades ever since Seth had intruded on her otherwise decent day. Briefly as she stepped off the moving staircase and headed outside, she wondered if she really could turn someone into a ferret. If she couldn't the results of a half transformation would have probably been just as amusing.
OOC/ Sorry guys couldn't quite figure out a way to continue this scene so I thought perhaps to take Izzie out while the posts were still at their peak.

Seth shot Zach a glare for interrupting the flow of the argument. But his annoyance faded quickly. He'd succeeded in amusing himself for the sake of putting off his homework. As a plus he'd discovered Isabelle, one of the first girls to ever stand up to him, let alone send him hurtling down the hallway with a single spell. This will be interesting, he thought to himself.
"I hope to see you again," Isabelle said to Zach before turning on her heel and stalking off.
Oddly enough, Seth felt a pang of regret for having treated Isabelle disrespectfully. He shook his head to clear his mind of such emotionally irrational thoughts. No need to be feel sorry, he told himself. And yet, he did. Seth stared at Isabelle's retreating form, wondering if he'd see her soon.
A sudden burst of pain from his back woke him from his sense. Seth doubled over and gasped, partly from shock, partly from pain. His high speed contact with the wall had done more damage than he'd expected. "I'll...see you later, Zach," he said between gritted teeth. With that eloquent goodbye, Seth half walked, half limped in the direction of Madam Pomfrey's office.

Zachary smiled lightly at Isabelle as she left, and flinched when Seth ground out his own farewell. Zach glanced up and down the corridors before walking off towards the stairs. He might as well go do some studying. Maybe the library was open. Zachary hopped on the stairs and let them carry down a few levels. He had to admit, as fun as that meeting had been, he was glad that adventure was over.
OOC/ And I figure that closes the post. Unless someone confronts one of the group elsewhere.
