The Great Hall roared slightly with the normal hustle and bustle of students trying to grab a bite before their daily activities. And sitting to the side of it all was Draco Malfoy. He was in his usual seat at the Slytherin table, others crowded around him. He smiled and laughed with his friends but at fleeting moments he would glance around the room, seriousness taking over his face. He was snacking on eggs and dry toast, pushing more of it around on his plate than anything. And though most of the other students were getting started he pushed his plate away and excused himself from the table, making up a story about a report he needed to finish.

He glanced over his shoulder as he made his way out of the Great Hall, walking briskly to the schools entrance. As he drew near the large doors he slowed his pace, looking as if he were waiting for something, or someone, slightly pacing the stone floor.

He slipped his hands into his pockets, trying to look casual and smiling and nodding at some of the students that did happen to walk by. Nothing seemed out of place, well that was if you weren't suspicious of every Slytherin lurking about. He was the image of responsibility. He was dressed fully in his school uniform, sans robe. After all it was warm enough inside of the castle that one could go without it if they wished. Besides it was the weekend and they didn't have classes so he wasn't really worried about it.

His dress shirt was immaculate, neatly pressed and buttoned, tucked neatly into his slacks. His tie was the perfect length and his shoes were even polished. He made another turn on the spot, glancing towards the door before taking a look around him again. He slipped his hand from his pocket and lightly brushed it through his hair, neither tidying it up or putting it out of place. He stopped in one spot, his face towards the door. He gave a slight sigh and pressed his lips together, feeling a rising lump in his throat fighting it's way up. He tingled in anticipation all over that he was unaware that he wasn't alone anymore. His mind was darting to thoughts and some fears that he didn't even hear the constant falling of footsteps growing even closer.

It was morning: Alex was almost completely disabled and crippled in the morning. There was nothing about it he liked; he loathed the food, hated not being on the top of his game, and most of all the morning-do-gooders. But, for some reason beyond his knowledge, his room mates decided that he was coming to breakfast, eating or not. When they eventually got him out of bed, before 10 AM mind you, he went through the malicious process of weeding through his wardrobe. He found a magnificent dark blue summer robe, and his usual dress attire (the black button dress shirt and the black slacks). He picked out a pair of enchanted sandals that actually gave the appearance of being shoes, that way he wouldn't get in trouble for wearing sandals and he could get the breezy freeness of sandals.

He made the long journey with this entourage, which no doubt collected on his journey to the Great Hall, as it always did. Mostly it consisted of giggling girls, but he had his occasional guy be a part of that, too. He made small talk with some of the people on his way, but when he finally got to the Great Hall, he took a seat and was disgusted. He wasn't paying attention to where he was sitting, and he sat right in front of the scrambled egg portions. "That's disgusting!" he announced. No one seemed to notice this reluctantly, and he was through. He reached over and grabbed an apple, and began gnawing on it. He turned and looked over at the Hufflepuff table. Alex held a certain resentment towards that specific house. It seemed like a smack in face to have be placed there and yet the students were the happiest in the school He didn't understand it, and he didn't really see any interesting people worth looking on at the moment, so he moved on to the next table. The Gryffindors, the 'heros' of the school. Alex didn't really care for their traits either. He felt the Gryffindors always felt like they had the need to butt their nose into everyone elses business. And like the Hufflepuff table, boring, no one interesting to associate with. So, he moved on once more to the Slytherins.

The Slytherins, if any house, related most to the Ravenclaws he felt. The Slytherins were cunning, smart, and they butt into your business with stealth; most of all they had the same resentments against the Hufflepuff and Gryffindor houses. A familiar face stood, and made his way to the door. It was none other than the Slytherin Prince, Draco Malfoy. His platinum blonde hair made him easy to keep track of, and his beauty almost compared to Alex's, or so Alex thought.

Alex stood up gently, "I'll meet you guys in the common room later." he told his friends. He made his way over to where Draco was; at first he wasn't sure if he wanted to just go and say 'hi'. One didn't usually walk up and approach Draco like that, there was a certain respect that had to be met. Alex was not one for kissing butt, and wasn't going to, but he was going to be mutually respectful. He made his way slowly to Draco, and he could tell something was unsettling the Slytherin Prince. He quirked a brow and continued over to him. He finally made it to Draco, and he whispered in his ear gently. "Waiting for someone?" He whispered in a playful way though.

Draco had been glancing towards the door when Alex walked up behind him, oblivious of his presence until he felt a warm rush of air brush across his ear. His attention was quickly flung to the present situation and the masculine voice that was tickling his ear. Masculine?! Draco wasn't the most touchy feely kind of guy. Sure he had girls that would pet on him a bit that were from his own house but that didn't mean he was all openly tender and liking this kind of public behavior. No, he had a bit too much pride for things like these.

His breath stuck in his throat and he quickly jerked away from his 'attacker'. A sneer was settled across his lips, along with a puzzled expression as he looked Alex over, his posture a bit rigid. What the hell was he doing? Did he randomly go around all intruding on people's privacy and getting uncomfortably close to them?

See even though Alex may be part veela, Draco didn't find any attraction in other males. Actually it was the total opposite. What would a guy want with another human being that had the same 'junk' as them? So there was no base attraction to be pulling at him. Much the way that other girls don't jump at the other veela girls.

After a few seconds, however, his expression faded to his normal look, rolling his shoulders as if to straighten himself up again while he studied Alex. He was in Ravenclaw, that was clear. And by the lingering expression on his face he didn't mean any harm. Draco remained cool and casually spoke, "I'd appreciate it if you didn't do that again... ever." What had the boy asked him? He couldn't remember now he had been so distracted by his wild approach of a greeting... or ice breaker. Whatever you could call that strange would be sexual advance. "I'm afraid I didn't catch your name." He put it out there simply. He wasn't going to snap at the boy just yet.. Not until he had good reason. Still Draco was one to be respected at this school and if anyone was going to be around him they had to learn he had boundaries.

Alex to had his 'isms' and didn't like certain freedoms encroached upon. He wasn't trying to break Draco's comfort zone, but everyone had didn't comfort zones and you didn't know what they were until you tested the waters. Obviously, Draco's was different than Alex's. He wasn't trying to seduce the Slytherin Prince, he knew better than that, plus Draco wasn't his 'type.' Anyway, Draco was Draco, and he'd be a great ally to have in upcoming events, as Alex would serve equally as useful. The wizarding world was engaged in a heated game of chess at the moment, and everyone had a part to play.

Alex took a deep breath and grinned at Draco, he took the whole misunderstanding very well. "Well, Draco, it is nice to finally meet you in person. I didn't mean to...startle you?" He extended his hand to shake. "I'm Alex, Alexander Gray. Your reputation proceeds you." He wanted to be on a mutual respect level with him. He didn't want enemies, especially in the Slytherin house. He thought he'd start of with small talk, "So, what exactly are you doing over here, I mean everyone is still eating and 'socializing'. Did someone or something offend you at your house table?" He was sure that no one of the Slytherin House offended it's Prince, that would be a terrible mistake in his mind. "Want to take a walk out to the forest where we can have privacy from wondering ears?" He just wanted to do something, Hogwarts was so boring the moment being.

Draco quirked his eyebrow slightly as he gave his name and assured him he didn't mean to startle him. Why had he whispered to him then? Was there perhaps something important that this boy knew and needed to tell him? Sure he had seen Alex in the halls before, usually surrounded by a gaggle of girls. But to Draco he was just a nameless face in the crowd. He didn't really put himself out to try and get to know everyone, he only obsessed about the important ones (at least Harry Potter and any other real competition).

He felt himself nod his head slowly once, not really giving his name because everyone here knew it. Plus the way Alex addressed him made it clear he knew Draco long before he had approached him. It almost sounded like he had been anticipating this moment. Perhaps this boy was alright, I mean after all when it came to Draco you were either against him and hated him or the opposite. He could prove to perhaps be a good ally if the latter was the case.

He stood with his hand extended in a formal greeting and Draco only waited for one second. He hadn't really meant any harm right? He hadn't been embarrassed around any of his 'friends' so there was no need to save face and rip him a new one. Besides he was so used to this type of behavior and mannerisms at home. You always acted a gentleman when in front of certain company. So his pale hand slipped into Alex, wrapping his fingers around it and giving him a firm hand shake.

Alex then asked Draco what he was doing over here and his mind flew to some of the excuses he made up. "I was waiting for my owl..", he started. He was going to give him so craptastic story about how one of his relatives was sick and he was waiting to hear about his current condition. But he didn't have to go that far. Alex offered to go on a walk into a more private area of the school. Draco's brow furrowed in thought. Was perhaps he the one that Draco was waiting on? Perhaps they found it safer to use another in school informant? He couldn't help but glance down at the boys left arm, already knowing his clothes cover his skin up. Could he be a fellow Death Eater?

"Sure.", Draco replied in a low voice. Although Alex was innocent on this part Draco was starting to see this meeting more as business. Although he would dare come out and mention anything to him first. He would see what the boy had to say, either they were going to communicate to Draco through Alex or Alex just wanted his alone time with the Prince in a very creepy place.

Draco did exactly what Alex expected him to do, shake his hand. It was the only proper thing to do in this situation, and Draco was classy enough and educated enough to know how to properly greet someone. Alex returned the intensity of Draco's grip and shake.

>>"I was waiting for my owl..",

Alex was no fool, he didn't believe this for one second. He knew Draco was waiting for something, or rather someone. Alex had his suspicions, but they were irrelevant. Did Alex really care why Draco had lied to him? No. Did it really matter to purse the issue and instigate the irritable Prince? No. He just nodded, sarcastically, playing along with him. He had a feeling that Draco didn't take him for an idiot, and he had good reason not to.

But to the point, Draco had information, information that intrigued Alex. It was the curse of the Ravenclaw to be curious and lust and covet knowledge until they knew everything. Draco's family were pro dominantly dark wizards, as most Slytherin family lines were. He, like his parents, was most likely a Death Eater. This was addictive for Alex. He had his own suspicions that his own father was a Death Eater, but could never prove it. His father wasn't proud of him, and he was sure tampering in the dark arts would draw interest to himself from his father. He wanted to talk to Draco about some personal things, things that he, nor Mr. Malfoy, would want wandering ears picking up on.

"Now, here is the fun part: escaping undetected." His voice grew quiet, to a whisper. "We are currently being monitored by Mrs. Norris." He gave a gentle nod up towards the landing above the door. "She will notify Filch, and we'll both be serving detention, and probably an especially dreadful one at that due to all of the new rules and restrictions. We have a few options. One, I can attempt an invisibility charm over the both of us, but I haven't quite got it down 100%. Two, we can transfigure a distraction to draw her way, or three." He grinned, "We can hex that old pin cushion to high Hell." He thirsted for some adventure, Hogwarts was not like it used to be, that was for sure.

Draco wasn't sure whether Alex bought his excuse or not. But really it didn't matter because he didn't push the issue - like he was going to get any real sensitive information out of Draco anyway. He nodded at the idea as if it were something casual and not worth mentioning again. But there was always the option that the Ravenclaw knew more than he let on.

Alex lowered his voice down to a whisper and Draco was a bit nervous that he may lean in close to him again but he didn't. He listened as he spoke, giving a slight smirk at his choices for escaping Mrs.Norris. It was true that Draco had planned on keeping out of trouble, at least not doing petty stuff like this to get caught. But still she was simply a cat, what could she do? It wasn't like she was going to run and tell and even if her and Filch had some strange and unhealthy connection there's no one else that would believe them.

And though part of him tugged at the back of his mind to know better than to cast a hex at school, Draco was already reaching for his wand. "Alright. I say we give that filthy rat what's been coming to her." His grey eyes shot back at Alexander, feeling a bit more like he did when he was much younger. His pride got the best of him and he didn't really take time to look around and see if anyone else was watching. He brought his wand around, seeing no one around them and pointed his wand at the cat "Avis". A few birds started flying around the cat and within the next breath he cast oppungo, causing the birds to attack the poor creature. He wasn't sure if Alex would add to her misery but he hoped so. He was already feeling some satisfaction even if she was only an animal. Still she was an animal that spied on the students and made their lives harder here at Hogwarts.

Alex grinned, if there was one things Slytherin's were good for, it was fun. This is what Alex wanted to hear, he had always hated that stupid cat and wished the Basilisk would have got her, but he was sadly disappointed when she was only petrified. Regardless, he and Draco would make up for this right now, years of suffering at the paws of this cat and her owner would now be repaid.

Alex watched as Draco casted a deadly version of the Avis charm on Mrs. Norris. It was quite ironic Alex thought that birds would be attacking a cat, but none the less very clever. Alex had a great idea to add to Draco's attack. Sure, the birds in number could cause trouble for Mrs. Norris, but eventually she would defeat them one by one because of her claws and size. Alex thought he would tip the scales. "Engorgio!" the birds were three times their original size, and their pecking and scratching was sure to amplify now that they were bigger. He watched in enjoyment as the birds forced Mrs. Norris to retreat. But Alex couldn't leave it at that, "Impedimenta!" Mrs. Norris' movements were slowed to almost a complete stop. "That should be good." He said to himself, quite pleased with his spell.
"Well, I think it' would be wise if we got out of here before anyone notices her." He moved to the doors, waiting for Draco.

Draco watched with an amused smirk on his face as Alex cast two more spells to torture poor Mrs.Norris. The cat was mortified as the birds swelled up to a frightening size. She quit swiping at the air with her paws and started to take off, which was quickly hindered by the second spell Alex sent her way. The cat was worse for the weather now, creeping and clearly distraught.

Alex made his way towards the door and paused, giving Draco a moment to follow. But that's not exactly what he did. He quickly stepped up and pushed the door, stepping out first. See Draco wasn't really what you would call a follower, perhaps it was because of his upbringing he seen himself above the others here at school and ever since he stepped foot on Hogwarts grounds there have been several all too eager to follow him. He didn't do good being the shadow of anyone, here at least. And perhaps Alex won't get offended, not that he should... after all Draco is also older than the boy.

He stepped out on the grounds which was now abandoned, letting the door go gently and rushing down the steps, glancing about as he stuck his hands into his pockets. The breeze was light and crisp, feeling good against his skin. He took no time heading towards the forest, trying to get under cover before anyone else left the great hall and discovered the two. Draco gave a glance back over his shoulder to make sure the boy was still following.

Could he really be a Death Eater? He was awful young.. I mean Draco, coming from the family he came from and knowing their past history and loyalty, well it wasn't that easy for him to just get sworn in. Alex was younger than him, that he knew... he could be new to all of this. Besides if he was a Death Eater, surely Draco would know.. right? Not unless he was kept secret because a Ravenclaw, well one wouldn't so quickly assume that they would follow the Dark Lord. Draco gave a sigh, thinking these thoughts to himself and hoping that once they were in a 'safe' place that something would give and he'd find out who the boy truly is....

Alex followed Draco out the door. He made a bolt for the forest, hoping that no eyes had caught on to what was going on. He wasn't far behind Draco, making his way to the forest edge. It was kind of bold do just run all the way across the grounds and not be seen, especially in these times. On top of that, if they were caught at the forest, the punishment would be most severe. But, it seemed that they had escaped detection, for now anyways. Alex was sure there was someone keeping an eye on them, if it was a wizard or not, he didn't know. "Draco." Alex said in a normal volume level. He looked around, the forest was quite beautiful .

He could tell that Draco was thinking about something, like he was worried about something. Alex shrugged it off. "So, what is going through your head, if you don't mind me asking. Is something troubling you?" He didn't want to be nosy, but he didn't want to touch on some aggression or a bad moment for Draco. They walked into the forest slightly, though not too deep, yet.

Draco and Alex made it to the forest and he turned around to look at the boy as he was obviously studying his surroundings. Draco narrowed his eyes a little and shook his head just slightly. Perhaps he was wrong thinking that Alex was someone important.. of course this could all be part of his facade.

Alex asked him a very foolish question, one that he hoped the boy knew he wouldn't get an honest answer to. Draco shook his head a bit, "No.... you first. I mean you are the one that wanted to come out here were no one could see or hear us." He stood with his arms crossed over his chest, finally dropping them to make a motion to the trees around them. "What do you have to say that's so important no one can hear it?"

Alex may have been playing a foolish game but it was one that could get him into a lot of trouble. Sure there was a lot of talk about the Malfoy's being Death Eaters and though many assumed that Draco was, well it was still a very serious accusation. One that was so taboo that no one at school had even offered to imply, not an adult anyway. But if this boy thought Draco was stupid enough to pull up his sleeve and put a black mark on him to someone that he didn't know from Adam, well he was foolish. This sort of stuff worked on a system of trust, at least as much as was to be found these days.

"Got something on your mind Alex?", he said as he started to walk around him, sizing up the situation. "Might as well get it off of your chest."
